Under the provisions of the ‘Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010’ it is a legal requirement that all providers of Ultrasound Imaging (Scanning) Services are to be registered with the Care Quality Commission.
Medi-Scan Imaging Services Limited are a registered provider and our registration details can be found Here>
In short: Not Registered = Not Regulated = Likelihood of Poor or Harmful Service
Registered Providers will be able to demonstrate they have met the required standards for:
• “We don’t need to be registered because our scans are ‘non-diagnostic’ “WRONG - ALL ante-natal ultrasound scans are classed as ‘Regulated Services’ Here> (10Mb)
• “Ultrasound is safe, therefore it doesn’t matter who does it” WRONG - Only a qualified sonographer has the depth of training to ensure the scan is performed safely.
• “We have Public Liability Insurance” WRONG - Insurers will almost certainly decline cover if the practice is not CQC Registered (i.e. Operating Illegally)
• Employing Qualified Personnel
• Equipment and Premises Properly Maintained
• Carrying Out Staff CRB Checks
• Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance
• Observing Bio-Hygiene
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) acts on behalf of the government to regulate all Health and Social Care Services in England.
